MSA 698 Directed Administrative Portfolio Action Plan for Paper #1: MSA 603 Strategic Planning for the Administrator It may only be months since you completed MSA 603 or it might be longer, perhaps even more than a year. Remembering the specific topics covered in a class taken a long time ago often is difficult. For that reason, several resources are available to you to refresh your memory. The course description and objectives and the textbook table of contents are available on Bb. Be sure to review them. A recorded YouTube lecture from the instructor is available detailing how you should approach development and writing of this paper. Also, and importantly, a detailed template for writing the MSA 603 Strategic Planning for the Administrator Paper #1 is available and must be used. It likely would be very helpful to you to carefully review the template before completing this action plan as several examples are included in the templates. This action plan describes your proposed strategy for analyzing your major MSA 698 organizational issue from the perspective of the MSA 603 core course. Your instructor must approve this action plan before you proceed with data collection, analysis and writing activities. Complete the following information: 1. Name: Taraiya Dodd 2. MSA 698 Major Issue and associated questions ( copy from your Student Portfolio Application, as approved by the instructor ): 3-1 What is the definition of a shared HR services’ operation and the type of services carried out through this operation? 3-2 What types of training is necessary for the individuals apart of this team? 3-3 How should services be rendered to support the different cultures that exist within the brands and their various retail locations? 3-4 How to rate the effectiveness of the shared services team? 3-5 How does shared services affect an organization financially? 4. MSA 603 proposed research questions. These must be linked in some way to the MSA 698 Major Issue & Associated Questions. The strategic research questions should be specific to the MSA 603 major issue that is being studied. They must be structured in a way that investigates strategic dimensions such as changes in external environment or how addressing the issues might impact the internal environment. The research questions might consider changes needed to

business-level and corporate-level strategy or to organizational structure and control systems. List your MSA 603 proposed research questions here: 4-1 What is Kering’s current strategic HR plan? Is it effective/ineffective. 4-2 What strategies are being employed to operate as a HR shared Services team? 4-3 How can Kering implement and evaluate their shared services model? Proposed Data Collection Approach Use the instructions below to describe your planned approach for locating scholarly literature and collecting data necessary to answer the MSA 603 research questions listed above. 5. Literature 5-1 Describe what resources you plan to use to search for scholarly literature related to your MSA 603 research questions (e.g., access GCLS and use one of the GCLS databases such as ABI-Inform, use Google Scholar, contact the GCLS librarian, etc.):I will utilize various electronic databases to locate peer-reviewed literature such as Google scholar, ABI-Inform, ProQuest, assistant from the librarian, etc. I will also use Kering’s website to gather the company’s mission and vision statement. 5-2 Describe the categories of literature that you plan to collect and potential search terms that you might use: For MSA 603 you can search for articles that have the terms "strategic planning," "strategic management," and "strategic management," and also include search terms for your organization's sector (e.g., health care, automobile manufacturing, public administration, etc.) as a second search term. This should provide some useful articles. A second search strategy might include searching for the same strategic search terms noted above and then including a second search term more targeted to your major issue such as "health care turnover," "automating manual processes," "implementing new lines of business," etc. While doing these searches, you may also identify literature that will be useful for the other papers that you must write this semester including MSA 601, MSA 604 and MSA 602. So be sure to download such articles and store them for later use to save time. Keep in mind that the data collection timeframe for these papers is very short. You need to collect data in approximately a one-week timeframe.
