Statement of Purpose “Exact analysis of an approximate model vs. Approximate analysis of an Exact Model” In Reinforced Concrete class, the professor brought up this question in the first week of school. After thinking hard and long, I leaned toward the first option, although there is no specific answer. I think an exact analysis of a model can give a smarter decision to prevent different types of natural disasters or even unexpected situations by having a full understanding of all the factors of the model such as materials, structure, and environment as well. One of the beauties of civil engineering is that engineers design, construct, and maintain infrastructures or systems such as bridges, buildings, roads, and dams for the public. We put safety as the priority since the infrastructures and systems that we work on have easy access to individuals, groups, and their society. Graduate school would allow me to further my study and analysis of civil engineering models and would allow me to increase public safety and positively impact others in my future career. To study and analyze in more depth a model to bring safety to the public, I pursue extending my career beyond my undergraduate.
