Tiara’s Responsible Recommendations 2 of 4 Managing & Leading in Business: Socially Responsible Practice Recommendations “Social responsibility” is the notion that companies should be concerned about the welfare of society and mindful of how their actions could affect society as a whole” (Soomo p5.11, 2024). I am pleased to present my findings on the social responsibility practices of TOMS Shoes and The Body Shop, two companies recognized for their inspirational commitment to ethical and social good. Based on their exemplary initiatives, I have outlined recommendations for SNHU Pet Supply Co to enhance its social responsibility and ethical decision-making. Socially Responsible Efforts: TOMS Shoes TOMS Shoes has pioneered the One for One® model, where for every pair of shoes sold, the company donates a pair to a child in need. This model has expanded to include eyewear and coffee, addressing health, education, and community development needs through strategic partnerships (Toms, 2024). The Body Shop The Body Shop has integrated social and environmental dimensions into its core operations. The company focuses on cruelty-free cosmetics and 100% recyclable plastic products, emphasizing sustainability and ethical sourcing (Roddick, A). Benefits: Enhanced Reputation: Both TOMS Shoes and The Body Shop have built strong reputations as socially responsible brands, leading to increased customer loyalty and positive brand perception.

Stakeholder Trust: By considering the impact of decisions on all stakeholders, B-Corp certified companies like TOMS and The Body Shop build trust among customers, employees, and communities. Socially Responsible Policy Recommendation: I recommend that SNHU Pet Supply Co adopt a socially responsible policy inspired by TOMS Shoes and The Body Shop. A potential initiative could involve donating a percentage of pet product sales to animal welfare organizations, supporting initiatives related to pet health, adoption, or community engagement. This would align with the company's mission, enhance its reputation, and contribute to the well-being of society. By incorporating social responsibility into its core business practices, SNHU Pet Supply Co can create a positive impact on the community, environment, and all stakeholders involved.
