Chapter 11 on Preparing and Writing Reports (at Week 4 Learning Activities).
Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:
--Discuss basic business report types: informational, analytical, justification, and proposal.
--Discuss some of the important activities for planning reports in Chapter 11.
--Discuss some of the important activities for writing/completing reports in Chapter 11.
--Explain how you might use these report writing skills in your current or future career.
There are four basic business report types. Informational reports gives you factual details about the organization. Examples of informative reports include; company policies, procedures, sales reports, reports on patient admissions and customer service requests. Analytical reports are an examination of a situation and usually includes conclusions and recommendations. An example of an analytical report is an assessment conducted in the classroom, by an observer. Justification reports usually come from upper management and gives a rationale for a decision. Proposal is a report that may be prepared for someone inside or outside your Organization. Proposal reports also state what strategy that the organization chooses.
When planning to write reports it is important to remember, always be concise, clear and complete. Be sure to add citations to all of your work to avoid plagiarism. You can also cite your
work by including references. The internet is a great took for finding resources. First start by identifying the topic you want to research, then determine what keywords are needed for the search. Lastly, choose one or more search engines to obtain your information. It is important to remember when researching, to make sure the information is of good quality. When planning to write a report, always remember to define the purpose of the report and scope. Identifying your audience is important too.
When preparing to writing and completing reports , you should always avoid plagiarism. Be sure
to give proper credit to the author. A good rule of thumb to avoid plagiarism is to summarize and
never copy a document word for word. Documenting the source is very important. Any ideas that
originated from someone else should be cited. Another way to avoid plagiarism is to paraphrase.
