Responses to Discussion Post Response 1 Hello Howard, thanks for sharing! Your post caught my attention because we selected the same program for our discussion. I believe that the good things I saw in this initiative are similar with yours. As it is indicated in the provided reading, every year the initiative provides free transportation for kids and their caregivers to various jails around the state (Center for Restorative Justice Works, 2023). The project includes free meals, travel bags, and photos for every youngster and their parents, among other goodies. It implies that the program seek to improve society. I agree with the strengths you have highlighted because the initiative's success lies in its ability to raise public awareness of the predicament of kids whose parents are imprisoned. Besides, the major barrier to its implementation is funding since it entails a number of activities. Reference Center for Restorative Justice Works. Indeed the activities in the “Camp Suzanne” program are very interesting; connecting imprisoned parents with their children is the most important thing every person would like to see. Notably, the program promotes children's rights to contact, communicate with, and embrace their parents, thus it would be a fantastic project to carry out in my community. Markedly, many guardians cannot afford to send kids to visit their parents in jail due to the cost and travel time, which distances parents from their young children. The “Camp Suzanne” project has the potential to close this gap and create a link to
healing and optimism. As they speak to their children, it might also be a beneficial attempt to dissuade future generations from crime. Since this organization does not charge families for any expenses incurred while carrying out its activities, funding is the main obstacle. As a result, there is a serious risk of the project running out of funding. Great post! Reference Center for Restorative Justice Works.
