Company Background An international cruise line, Carnival Cruise Line is headquartered in Doral, Florida. The company backs the Carnival Corporation and plc. Carnival Cruise Line is the biggest cruise line in terms of passengers carried annually. By April 2022, the fleet of the Carnival Cruise Line will consist of 23 vessels. In addition, they have two new acquisitions, one of which will be added to their armada from a Costa Cruises affiliate after undergoing substantial repairs, and another Fantasy-class ship that will leave the fleet in October 2022. Company Background Cont. The American-British Carnival Corporation & plc, the world's largest cruise ship owner, owns ten cruise lines, including Carnival. Carnival Cruise Line is estimated to have transported 22.0 percent of all passengers and produced 8.9 percent of total industry revenue in 2018. It has the largest fleet in the Carnival group, with 24 ships. Six of the ships fly the Bahamas flag, while the other 18 fly the Panamanian flag as a courtesy flag. Its corporate offices are in Miami, Florida, in the United States. Carnival Corporation's North American division, headquartered in Doral, Florida, has executive responsibility of the firm .

Background Cont. Ted Arison founded the Carnival Cruise Line in 1972. Arison turned to his friend Meshulam Riklis, owner of Boston-based American International Travel Service, for financial support (AITS). The new company was established by Arison and Riklis as an AITS auxiliary. AITS was intended to promote and advance the new endeavor. Riklis sold AITS's stake in the company to Arison for $1 in 1974 due to administrative problems, but only after Arison took responsibility for the important organizational tasks. Arison was able to form new relationships with independent travel planners as a result of the split. He also made his excursions more luxurious for carefree younger people. The set up had excellent financial results.
Changes Cruise vacations were the leisure industry sector in North America that was growing the quickest. The number of visitors to the industry has increased over time. Since people started to accept cruise travel as a form of leisure, the number of customers has been rising every year. These floating resorts have change in a big way and much advancements have been made, such include the inclusion of: casinos, bars, cabaret acts, pools, shuffleboard and much more, they have become more of moving resorts
Changes Cont. Between 1970 and 2004, the number of customers in North America increased from 500,000 to 10 million. There is room for growth in the cruise vacation industry because of the vast number of people who have not yet taken a cruise vacation. The industry has gradually grown and changed.

Changes cont. Additionally, there are also instances whereby they have sporting arenas, wine tasting, cigar bars and much more recreational activities for the guests. The cruise lines have also differentiated to four segments: Contemporary(mass market), destination(speciality), and luxury. The contemporary happens to be the latest classification came with major changes in ships designs in terms of size and amenities and these seemed to attract a larger market.
Changes Cont. However the events of September11, 2001 somehow affected tge entire cruise industry. Cruise lines were forced to reduce fares to fill the new ships. Some cruise lines redeployed their ships to North American ports such as New Orleans, Texas and Charleston which was within a driving range of feeder markets to get customers who were still scard of flying but needed a vacation again. This tended to reduce the price issue even more and the occupancy leve;ls of cruise ships suddenly shot up to the initial numbers.
Questions What can Carnival cruise do to ensure that they are always at the frontline in the industry? On the issue of national or international disasters such as the 9/11, how can the company always come back on its feet from such? How the company develop sustainably?

Answer- Alternatives The company needs to keep tabs of all their competitors and understand what th are doing to improve their products and services: this will hel Carnival to always be at par with them or be ahead rather than being left behind. Secondly, the company needs to do continuous surveys amonbg their customers and non customers to assess for their needs. The needs assesment needs to check for customer preferences on pricing, ammenities, destinations and destination, such help in improving services and products and thus enables reaching a wider market.
Answer-Reccomendations Disaters tend to occur without anyone being ready for them. For this reason, the company oughts to have an emergency department/commitee which must always have resources to combat any disater that may strike the organisation internally or externally. The department’s work is to assess damage caused by disastor, check for solution, acquire the necessary resources for solving the issuea and then implementing the counter strategy on the issue.
Answer- Recommendation For sustainability purpose, the compony needs to always develop solutions that solve the problems permanently rather than having temporary solution for isues. The cruise industry seems to be changing gradually and it is quite unpredicatble due to the advance in technology which has led more innovation and innovation. All decisions made in the company need to be informed decisions whereby all relevant stakeholders are involved in public participation. This is to make sure that all needs are adressed without any being lefdt over, also, the stakeholders will work as a team once all their needs are adressed.

Answer- Implementation To implement any change, there is need to educate all players who will be affected by the change, communication is vital in ensuring the development of any organisation (Aslam et al., 2018). Secondly, all players must play their part in implementing change for the recommendation made above, teamwork helps in efficient and effective adoption of strategies. Follow up must be done to evaluate the impact of the changes made, otherwise, it is difficult to assess the impact.
