Other areas include, logistics, distribution and transportation. As a conglomerate, it has reached to a multi-national stature with tremendous amount of cash flows leading to its growth. This paper emphasizes on how the firm handles competition along with its current position in the industry, its recent developments and achievements and vision. The research articles considered are from recent work submitted by various news articles and business journals (Amy,2020).

It entangles a revenue of $70 Billion with a Net Operating Income of $7 Billion. It took off the packaging and delivery services as an initial market penetration step and now deals with heavy logistics described under its conglomerate globally. It ventured out to 48 states in the US after being concentrated in Seattle for a longer period of time. UPS ranked No. 41 on the 2019 Fortune 500 list of the largest United States corporations by total revenue. Carol Tome leads the CEO position at UPS and currently overseas operations across the US. The main focus of the firm is to maintain sustainability during these unprecedented times and provide uninterrupted service with its greater e-commerce support (Amy,2020).

Major competitors in the United States include United States Postal Service (USPS) and FedEx, along with regional carriers such as OnTrac, and LSO . In addition to these domestic carriers, UPS competes with a variety of international operators, including Canada Post TransForce, Deutsche Post (and its subsidiary DHL), Royal Mail, Japan Post Service, India Post and many other regional carriers, national postal services and air cargo handlers.As per the Business Insider’s statistics, UPS accounts to 36% of the share in the industry (Thomas,2019).
Assignment Part - 1 5 Recent Developments Within the Company/Industry With an insight of recent technology and innovation in the e-commerce world,UPS has driven customer retainment strategy during this time of pandemic as per the articles held by the company’s home page.As per the article, “Repeat customers bring in about 16 times more revenue, on average, compared to one-time customers,”.The technology entices a business delivery partner which could be booked via the UPS website and register for daily delivery or tracking updates.This way has proven very efficient for consumers to experience greater online service with ease.As per the SEC 10K form, UPS’ shares and ownership details are disclosed and also gives way the power of attorney details to public visibility. Another important and recent addendum to its business growing needs is ‘Expedited Shipping'. It clearly depicts the company’s efficient network strength. Fortunately, UPS offers a wide range of express shipping options, both domestic and international. Within the United States, UPS Next Day Air and UPS Next Day Air Freight services will get the shipments to its destination the following day. This clearly shows an edge over other carriers (Thomas,2019).
