Team Building Marlene Fuller South University MBA5001-Organazation Behavior & Communications Professor: Lyle Cady April 15, 2024
Team Building The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) hospital mission is to reserve and optimize human life in South Carolina and beyond, the MUSC provides an interprofessional environment for learning, discovery, and healing through (1) education of healthcare professionals and biomedical scientists, (2) research in the health sciences, and (3) provision of comprehensive health care (MUSC, n.d. b).  Since March 1, 2023, the MUSC Orangeburg, has taken over management of all TRMC hospital operations and related outpatient clinics (MUSC, n.d.). To support their mission the MUSC would like to create a virtual team to optimize better healthcare amongst all the MUSC- Orangeburg hospital and outpatient clinics. To achieve this better healthcare, MUSC-Orangeburg hospital has created a 10-panel virtual team. As one of the team members, I decided to conduct some research to find strategies for optimizing the effectiveness of the virtual team before the team begins work on the project. Purpose The MUSC-Orangeburg 10-panel virtual team’s main goal is to establish a reliable digital healthcare system that caters to the individual needs of both patients and their families throughout our community. The team will be categorized into two teams. These two teams will meet via Zoom every Thursday at two pm for the next ninety days. Team One will be Joseph, Ijahnae, and Raheim, and Team Two will be the other members on the panel list below. Team One has a large responsibility, they will create a proposal detailing a revised reliable digital healthcare system based on Team Two gathered data from community and state-wide surveys evaluating the digital system's potential use. Communication problems can occur when team members live in different time zones, and have language barriers, and sometimes the lack of in-person engagement can make communication challenging (Gregory, 2010). It is more important than ever to cultivate  trust  among virtual team members. By doing so, you can guarantee that your project remains up-to-date and on track. Remember, trust is the foundation upon which successful collaborative efforts are built (Gregory, 2010). Building trust in a virtual setting can be a bit of a challenge. Cultural differences, long distances, and simply just not knowing your teammate might cause problems. One of the biggest barriers to efficient team communication can be having a  poor internet connection.  Poor audio quality or the inability to log on might cause miscommunications and misunderstandings, which can escalate to more serious issues.

For example, the inability to hear what others are saying or lack of access to important files might hinder team members' ability to communicate, postpone projects, create confusion, and ultimately lower productivity.  To achieve great results when working remotely with a team it is imperative to have cohesive  virtual team. If you find someone who shares your positive views towards similar aspects and you both have a favorable mindset regarding specific objects, your perspective will be aligned, creating a cohesive team that can achieve great results (Lu, 2015). However, when your teammates are not aligned, it can lead to unfavorable outcomes and confusion among team members. What specific problems might it develop? After careful consideration, I am confident that we are the right panelist for this project. Having worked with most of the team members before, I have developed a sense of familiarity and trust. Our past Zoom projects have also been successful. I am assured that we can replicate that success with this new project. However, we cannot afford to be complacent. There is always a possibility of not reaching desired outcomes and not meeting goals and objectives. We must prioritize effective communication, trust, and cohesiveness to ensure that we meet our deadlines and accomplish our objectives.  Solutions to make the team effective. We need to establish  clear lines of communication  and ensure that everyone is on the same page regarding their roles and responsibilities. Clear lines of communication will help us avoid misunderstandings and prevent delays. In addition, we need to foster a culture of trust and respect. We must be willing to listen to each other's ideas and concerns and be open to constructive feedback. Clear lines of communication will also
help us build a strong team and promote collaboration. Finally, we need to work cohesively as a team. We must be aware of each. By sharing our expertise and working towards a common goal, we can achieve great results. Establishing  trustworthy virtual communication channels  is essential for fostering teamwork and improving communication among team members. Trustworthy virtual communication channels could entail organizing frequent video conferences, putting up a messaging platform for the team members, and making sure that everyone is proficient with these technologies.  dependable and quick internet connection  may significantly increase the effectiveness and success of any project or job. Having access to dependable internet service is a must for all team members.   Hosting online gatherings and activities  to promote cooperation and teamwork. These might be brainstorming meetings, team-building activities, or even social gatherings (MVT, n.d.). You may promote a feeling of community and assist in creating a more solid, cohesive team by allowing (MVT, n.d.) the team opportunities to interact and connect with one another.  In conclusion, several organizations that have a distributed workforce often adopt virtual teams to leverage the cross-functional skills and expertise of their remote workers. However, virtual teams face unique challenges compared to traditional teams. Ensuring the success of virtual teams requires proactive identification of potential issues. By doing so, any concerns that may arise can be promptly and efficiently resolved, paving the way for seamless collaboration and
effective outcomes. On the other hand, successful virtual teams can lead to increased productivity, reduced expenses, and better teamwork.
