LAB 03 EXERCISE 04 o Due No due date e Points 16 e Questions 16 e Time Limit None Attempt History Attempt Time Score LATEST Attempt 1 10 minutes 16 out of 16 Score for this quiz: 16 out of 16 Submitted Feb 20 at 9:55pm This attempt took 10 minutes. Question 1 1/1 pts (Q001) The pedigree diagram on p. 71 of your lab manual is for trait R in a family. Use this pedigree diagram to answer the questions in this exercise. Trait R is the Mendelian trait in humans for tongue rolling. The allele for the ability to roll the tongue (R) is dominant over the allele for the inability to roll the tongue (r). What is the genotype of person A in the pedigree? RR Rr Correct! rr RR or Rr FEEDBACK: Person A does not have the dominant trait R, so she must be homozygous recessive for trait R. Question 2 1/1 pts (Q002) What is the phenotype of person A in the pedigree? able to roll the tongue Correct! unable to roll the tongue
FEEDBACK: Person A does not display the dominant trait R, so she has the recessive phenotype, the inability to roll the tongue. Question 3 1/1 pts (Q003) What is the genotype of person B in the pedigree? RR Rr Correct! rr RR or Rr FEEDBACK: Person B does not have the dominant trait R, so he must be homozygous recessive for trait R. Question 4 1/1 pts (Q004) What is the phenotype of person B in the pedigree? able to roll the tongue Correct! unable to roll the tongue FEEDBACK: Person B does not display the dominant trait R, so he has the recessive phenotype, the inability to roll the tongue. Question 5 1/1 pts (Q005) What is the genotype of person C in the pedigree? RR Correct! Rr rr RR or Rr FEEDBACK: Person C does have the dominant trait R, so she could be either RR or Rr. However, she also has a daughter who does not have trait R. Thus, person C must be heterozygous in order to produce a child who is homozygous recessive.
Question 6 1/1 pts (Q006) What is the phenotype of person C in the pedigree? Correct! able to roll the tongue unable to roll the tongue FEEDBACK: Person C does display the dominant trait R, so she has the dominant phenotype, the ability to roll the tongue. Question 7 1/1 pts (Q007) What is the genotype of person D in the pedigree? RR Rr rr Correct! RR or Rr FEEDBACK: Person D does have the dominant trait R, so she could be either RR or Rr. Since all of her children display the dominant trait as well, we are unable to determine if she is RR or Rr. Question 8 1/1 pts (Q008) What is the phenotype of person D in the pedigree? Correct! able to roll the tongue unable to roll the tongue FEEDBACK: Person D does display the dominant trait R, so she has the dominant phenotype, the ability to roll the tongue. Question 9 1/1 pts (Q009) What is the genotype of person E in the pedigree? RR

Correct! Rr rr RR or Rr FEEDBACK: Person E does have the dominant trait R, so he could be either RR or Rr. However, one of his parents does not have trait R, which means that parent must have passed on the recessive allele r to person E. Thus, person E must be heterozygous. Question 10 1/1 pts (Q010) What is the phenotype of person E in the pedigree? Correct! able to roll the tongue unable to roll the tongue FEEDBACK: Person E does display the dominant trait R, so he has the dominant phenotype, the ability to roll the tongue. Question 11 1/1 pts (Q011) What is the genotype of person F in the pedigree? RR Rr Correct! rr RR or Rr FEEDBACK: Person F does not have the dominant trait R, so she must be homozygous recessive for trait R. Question 12 1/1 pts (Q012) What is the phenotype of person F in the pedigree? able to roll the tongue Correct! unable to roll the tongue
FEEDBACK: Person F does not display the dominant trait R, so she has the recessive phenotype, the inability to roll the tongue. Question 13 1/1 pts (Q013) What is the genotype of person G in the pedigree? RR Rr rr Correct! RR or Rr FEEDBACK: Person G does have the dominant trait R, so she could be either RR or Rr. Both of her parents and her sibling all have the dominant phenotype. Her father is heterozygous, but her mother is either RR or Rr. It is not possible to tell by looking at her family if person G is RR or Rr. Question 14 1/1 pts (Q014) What is the phenotype of person G in the pedigree? Correct! able to roll the tongue unable to roll the tongue FEEDBACK: Person G does display the dominant trait R, so she has the dominant phenotype, the ability to roll the tongue. Question 15 Not yet graded / 1 pts (Q015) Are you 100% sure of each person's phenotype? If not, which ones are problematic? Why? Your Answer: Naturally, | am certain of each person's phenotypes based on my charts. Question 16 Not yet graded / 1 pts (Q016) Are you 100% sure of each person's genotype? If not, which ones are problematic? Why? Your Answer:
No | am not 100% sure about hte genotype of "D" and genotype pf "G" because if the homozygous dominant or RR is found in the D and crossed with the E which is heterozygous dominant or Rr then their offsprings are RR,RR, Rr, Rr. So 50% is homozygous dominant or RR and 50% is heterozygous dominant or RR. So the genotype may be homozygous dominant or RR OR heterozygous dominant or Rr.
