Observations of the stem of Clerodendrum thomsoniae External observations: - Clerodendrum thomsoniae is a eudicot species (as it contains network-like veins) and green in colour. - the shape of the tissue was square. Internal observations: Dermal tissue system: - Contained a thick outer layer that stained pink after dye. - The thick outer layer was made up of 5 layers of pink, oval shaped cells. Vascular tissue system: - Appeared as square/rectangular bundles throughout the ross section - The colour of the tissue appeared as blue after dye (indicating that the tissue is purely made of thick secondary wall) - Xylem was made up of very thick walls and contained larger holes compared to phloem. - Phloem was stained blue and contained smaller holes compared to Xylem Ground tissue system: Storage: contained a thin primary wall that stained pink. Photosynthetic: 3 layers of green circular cells that contained dark circular chloroplast inside, and stayed green after dye as well. Structural: were made of 5 thick layers of circular cells that were aligned tightly and adjacent to each other. /10
