In “Mapping a Di ff erent Archipelago” (LEC 16 BARBER ET AL), Philip Goad writes in relation to Australian architecture and climate: “As a general rule, adjustment took two paths: either a battle against or a negotiated path with climate and environment.” This description does apply to architecture elsewhere as well. Using examples from the course, describe these two forms of adjustment in architecture since 1945. 2. Detroit’s population started to decline in the 1950s, Copenhagen’s population in the 1970s. Compare and contrast how both cities have evolved since then. 3.
