How did this film stock and format selection affect its look? - With the use of the 16 mm on high contrast Ektachrome, the picture conveys a harsh, brutal, and melancholy ambiance that conveys the harsh brutality of war. Whose point of view does the camera assume in the opening scene? How does that choice encourage you to identify with and care about the character? - The camera perspective assumes the photographer is fleeing a place in the opening scene. As a result of the camera shaking and the angle, it is apparent that the photographer is scared and in a hurry, and the audience can identify with his emotions almost as if they were feeling his heart pounding. Describe two important camera techniques and briefly discuss how each contributes to the theme, look, mood or pace. Plot point leading to the climax - At the border, the photographer and driver were questioned by the border patrol guards and the guards got aggressive because the photographer refused to stop taking pictures. Climax - Guards fire at the driver and photographer, and the driver flees off the roads to cross the border.
Falling action and resolution - The photographer dies in the car after they cross the border. The driver delivers the dog tag to the photographer's mother.
