What
does
art
education
look
like?
In
a
choice-based
art
curriculum,
students
are
given
the
freedom
to
explore
their
own
artistic
interests
and
make
decisions
about
what
they
want
to
learn
and
create.
This
approach
recognizes
that
each
student
has
unique
talents,
preferences,
and
learning
styles,
and
allows
them
to
take
ownership
of
their
artistic
education.
One
of
the
key
benefits
of
a
choice-based
art
curriculum
is
the
integration
of
opportunities
for
artistic
play.
Students
are
encouraged
to
experiment,
take
risks,
and
explore
different
materials
and
techniques.
This
fosters
creativity
and
allows
students
to
discover
new
ways
of
expressing
themselves
through
art.
Another
advantage
of
this
curriculum
is
its
focus
on
individual
students.
By
allowing
students
to
choose
their
own
projects
and
explore
their
own
interests,
teachers
can
tailor
instruction
to
meet
the
specific
needs
and
abilities
of
each
student.
This
personalized
approach
promotes
engagement
and
motivation,
as
students
are
more
likely
to
be
invested
in
their
own
learning
when
they
have
a
say
in
what
they
are
doing.
"Integrate
opportunities
for
artistic
play,
focus
on
students
as
individuals,
develop
learning
centers
organized
with
art
media,
encourage
students
to
take
on
leadership
roles,
make
resources
available
for
students
to
participate
in
self-guided
learning,
look
to
students'
communities
and
the
qualities
that
make
them
unique,
teach
artistic
behaviors,
and
present
exemplars
that
motivate
students
to
solve
problem"
(Voigt,
2020).
A
well-defined
lesson
plan
can
yield
numerous
benefits
for
both
teachers
and
students.
Students
can
explore
new
art
forms,
create
their
own
works,
and
even
experience
failure
and
subsequent
attempts,
while
teachers
observe
the
diversity
and
inclusivity
that
permeates
the
classroom.
