Final Reflection: Short Stories You can use any of the 2 short stories we studied. Please write about a page double spaced minimum. 1. How does a sense of belonging, or lack thereof, impact the character of your chosen story? How does feeling that you belong impact the choices you make? During the story Traplines, The main character Will had a brother named Eric and and a Mom and Dad that were very destructive and kept fighting and arguing. Throughout the story, Will gradually started to have a scene for belonging towards his family and his entire community. Will had a choice whether to go live with the Smythe’s family where there was no more bullying, fights and it was a more peaceful life or to continue staying with his destructive family and his community that he truly loves. As the story continues, we see that Will makes that decision that he will stay with his family and community and not with Smythe's family. This shows that Will values his family and community more than anything else in the world. A sense of having a place that is very vital to your life fulfillment, happiness, mental and physical wellbeing gives you a sense of reason and meaning. If you think that you belong somewhere even if it is the littlest thing, that will show you that you have a purpose and meaning to your lfie. Having a place where you feel comfortable and valuable to you, that will motivate you and will help you make good decisions in your future life. If you know a group if people that you value so much don’t lose them because if you do you will start feeling like you don’t belong anywhere, which will lead you to be
very isolated from the world and that will affect your mental health which will cause stress and depression and that will direct you to bad thoughts and bad choices you will make in your life.
