From an anthropologic standpoint, it is my understanding that individuals are not categorized into racial categories. Homo sapiens differences exist dependent upon their geographical location. In the text, it is stated “Genetically speaking, humans show up as, so “races” do not exist (Templeton 2013).” ( Welsch, R. L., Vivanco, L. A., & Fuentes, A. pp.189. 2019). Connecting this to biological anthropology and the study of morphologic traits. Throughout evolutionary adaptations, we begin to see different skin pigmentations. While this is specifically related to the geographical location of individuals, homo sapiens originate from the African continent. It was stated that Biological anthropologists utilize two concepts of race for studies conducted. These are “The scientific concept of race…” and “culturally constructed concept of race”( Welsch, R. L., Vivanco, L. A., & Fuentes, A. pp.195. 2019). The scientific concept utilizes specific characteristics, and the culturally constructed concept utilizes cultural ideologies. In the early portions of anthropologic research anthropologists worked to culturally construct races, as studies have progressed evidence has detailed culturally constructed races to be lacking accuracy.
