Both my maternal and fraternal grandmothers both inspired me to be the person I am today. They were both extremely sweet and loving people. They love to help people in need when they can. Both my grandparents were foster parents who fostered teenagers up until they died. I do not remember the children they fostered but I do wonder how they are or where they live. Growing up I always loved to help people when I could. I used to help elderly people carry their groceries. I would help them dust their house and run the sweeper. I volunteered when I was little at the pantry passing out clothes and food. I started babysitting when I was eleven years old for my cousins and neighbors’ children. I also started cooking and baking when I was eleven years old helping my grandmothers around the house. I fell in love with taking care of elderly people when I was eleven years old and moved with my grandma and helped take care of her. I cared for my grandma for two years, helping with the daily routines around the house and I also helped bathe her. I always wanted to work in childcare, care for children, and own my daycare when I got older. I have been in the field for many years. When I graduated from Fort Hayes Career Center and High School in 2003, I immediately started working in a childcare center. I have been working in the childcare field for almost twenty years. I took a break for about four years and worked as a home health aide working with elderly people. I am currently working as a director in a childcare center, getting my bachelor’s degree.
Educators undeniably play a very crucial role in the lives of learners, especially the younger ones. Many challenges or inconveniences can happen when working or teaching early childhood learners. Therefore, reflecting upon their daily work is an essential practice because it allows educators to evaluate what they need to work on for the welfare of the younger learners. Reflection means that an educator looks back on what happened during their work to find what went wrong during that day and what could be done to solve the problem. It is important to reflect because it helps an educator grow from past experiences and make the best accommodations for young learners. Reflection encourages educators to change their ways and practices for the better rather than just relying on routines that might not yield the best results for the learners. By being able to reflect, educators can make their approaches, techniques, and strategies better. Reflection paves the way for new learning, professional growth, and responsiveness to the needs of the learners. One notable reflective practice is when an educator asks herself questions about what happened during her work time with the young learners and their families. An educator should ask questions such as "How to make the children more attentive?" or "How to catch the interest of the learners better?" and many more questions about their day's work to identify the problems that they are encountering. After identifying the problems through reflection, educators can now think of practical solutions and interventions to the challenges they face at work. Another reflection

practice is writing journals that exhibit the behavior of the children and the knowledge given by their families. Through writing a journal, an educator will have a record of their learners and use it to provide individualized instruction for the sake of the learners. This explains why reflection is extremely valuable in the field of teaching.
