Answer- The following are some of the challenges that the younger generation of Lushootseed people has in learning their language: -Colonial Legacy: Language transmission faced obstacles because of the historical trauma of colonization.
-Urbanization: Linguistic isolation resulted from migration to metropolitan regions.
-Lack of Resources: The revitalization of languages suffers from a lack of teachers and language resources.
Question 6: What is the lesson the Lushootseed people learn from the cedar?
Answer-The cedar tree teaches the Lushootseed people the value of persistence and
flexibility. Their culture needs to change while holding fast to its traditions, just as a cedar tree bends with the wind without breaking. The cedar teaches the Lushootseed people about reciprocity and respect for the natural world. They are aware that the cedar gives them tools and wood for shelter, two necessities for survival, but they also know that the cedar requires respect and consideration in return. This lesson emphasizes the interdependence between the natural world and humanity, stressing the value of environmental management and sustainable activities. Question 7: What lessons are in the stories that Vi tells her granddaughter?
Answer- The lessons of Vi's stories are about communal ties, environmental awareness, and survival. They teach morals, ethics, and the knowledge that all life is interrelated.
