What makes a person to be considered indigenous? c. Do all indigenous people come from the same place in Canada? d. What are the different groups of indigenous people in Canada? e. What is the difference in culture between First Nations, Inuit, and Metis? 2. Things learned about the Indigenous People of Canada. a. Due to differences in culture, not all indigenous people prefer to be addressed similarly. They each have their preference when dealing with how they are approached due to differences in culture. b. Understanding the different terms of indigenous people in Canada can increase the understanding of how to effectively, respectfully, and responsibly talk and interact with people harboring different cultures. c. Three groups make up indigenous people in Canada, which are First Nations, Inuit, and Metis, and are determined by various factors such as geography, cultural heritage, and ancestry. d. Historically, French Canadians in Canada, especially in Quebec, were considered defeated and treated as minors to the English-speaking majority, who were considered superior. e. Aboriginal languages of indigenous people in Canada, such as Cree, Ojibwe, Inuktitut, and Michif, have less significance in Canada and should be revived and made official as was done to the Maori in New Zealand.
