Calculation:

In order to write the given decimal number $1.5$ as a fraction, note that there is only 1 digit after decimal point, so divide the decimal number by 10 and reduce the fraction in simplest form as shown below

  $\begin{array}{c}1.5=\frac{15}{10}\\ =\frac{3\cdot 5}{2\cdot 5}\\ =\frac{3}{2}\end{array}$

Thus, the number as a fraction is $\frac{3}{2}$ .
