The electronic configuration of the benzene anion has to be predicted.  The π- electron binding energy for benzene anion has to be calculated.

Concept introduction:

The pi-molecular orbital energy level diagrams for the conjugated molecules can be drawn with the help of a set of approximations.  These approximations were suggested by Erich Huckel in 1931.  The π-orbitals are assumed to be made from the linear combination of p-orbitals.
