The acid dissociation constant Ka can be given as,

Ka=[H+][A-][HA]

A weak acid is one that doesn’t undergo completion.

The negative logarithm of an equilibrium constant is called as pK .

The pKa of weak acid is the negative logarithm of Ka and can be given as,

pKa=-logKa

The value of acid dissociation constant Ka decreases with increase in pKa .

The pH of solution can be calculated as,

pH=-logAH+pH=-log[H+]γH+

Fraction of dissociation:

The fraction of acid in the form of A- is called as fraction of dissociation.

The formula of fraction of dissociation is given as,

α=[A-][A-]+[HA]α=xx+(F-x)=xF
