Introduction

Group cohesiveness is generally considered to be an attraction or bond which draws people into group membership and inhibits their separation from the group. In other words, people are drawn toward groups and tend to continue participating in groups when they are strongly cohesive. This is particularly true of social groups, whereas task-oriented groups tend to become less cohesive once that task is completed.
