Summary Introduction

Introduction

Deindividuation refers to a lowered sense of self-awareness or a tendency to behave outside of what is considered the norm within a group setting. For example, deindividuated behavior is commonly seen in lynch mobs and violent crowds, where members feel more disinhibited and will readily act outside of societal norms in situations where they may not do so outside of such a crowd.
