Answer to Problem 1CR

The government of Costa Rica maintained its biodiversity with the help of people of Costa Rica. It gave the people subsidies to maintain the tree covers of the forest. It also developed natural reserves and conservation areas with the help of indigenous people to maintain the diversity of the forests.

Explanation of Solution

Costa Rica has one of the largest biodiversity in the world because it has a tropical location between two oceans and has both coastal and mountainous regions. It has around 500,000 plant and animal species. It has established a system of nature reserves and national parks to maintain its biodiversity. It has preserved its environment by devoting a large proportion of its land to biodiversity, which is the largest in the world. The government of Costa Rica provides subsidies to those who plant trees and preserves forests. They also pay their people for maintaining and restoring tree covers. It helped in increasing the forest area of the country from 20% to 50% in the last three years.
