Program Plan Intro

Program-level parallelism:

The process of decentralization of a single program and executing it on multiple processors is known as program-level parallelism. It includes shorter real time.

Example: parallel computer

Single Instruction Multiple DataStream (SIMD):

• The SIMD uses single Control Unit (CU) to fetch the instructions from the store.
• It is used for high speed performance.
• It executes large size of data by decentralizing them.
• The code of the variable is executed depending on its processor id.
• It performs same operation or task on different types of data.
• Example: vector computers, array processor, Graphics Processing Unit (GPS)

Multiple Instruction Multiple DataStream (MIMD):

• MIMD includes multiple processors that possess inter connection.
• It follows parallel architecture.
• It is used for message passing.
• It is decentralized to two groups,
  • Shared memory
  • Distributed memory
• It includes the examples like sequent computers, BNN butterfly and many such.
