Chapter 8, Problem 1GQ
To determine

The location in the given figure where there is a possibility of drilling a pollutant and saltwater contamination-free well.

Introduction:

The water table refers to the upper layer of the saturation zone. The saturation area is the region where the earth's pores and cracks become flooded with water.

Explanation of Solution

The water table divides the zone of aeration and zone of saturation. The zone of aeration has spaces in between, and the zone of saturation has water particles in between the sand particles. The landfills and septic systems made on the surface of land allow the seepage of water down the aquifers. The fast-moving water has pollutants and salt contamination and thus the water in aquifer gets polluted. Hence, the pollution and salt contamination-free well cannot be dug in the land.

Map 2 parts 1 through 7. I need help with the steps and to understand how to complete the assignment. 1) On the map, draw a single red pencil line that represents the kern river recharge axis. 2) on the map draw 3 to 5 additional red lines in closing what appear to be other smaller recharge areas, possibly the locations of isolated individual recharge points. 3) on the map, draw for useful spaced blue pencil lines that represent groundwater flow from the kern river recharge access into the basin north of the river. 5) on the map, draw any necessary, additional blue pencil lines to fully illustrate groundwater flow from the current river recharge axis. 6) what is the groundwater gradient immediately north of the main recharge area? 7) what is the groundwater gradient immediately south of the main recharge area?
