Summary Introduction

To determine:

The ethical violations that may Terman have committed while involved in this study.

Concept introduction:

Lewis M. Terman, a psychologist at Standford University, given a term “gifted”, to those individuals whose intelligence scale falls on the normal curve above an IQ of 130. Terman selected 1,529 children to participate in a longitudinal study. These children, 671, 857 boys, had IQs level from 130 to 200. Terman observed that the gifted children were well adjusted and often skilled leaders. They were also average in weight and height, and physical attractiveness. The gifted children were also not susceptible to mental illness. Terman called such gifted children “Termites”.
