Summary Introduction
To compare and contrast: The five zones of epiphyseal plate and describe the way in which the growth in length occurs.
Concept introduction: The skeletal system is composed of bones, cartilage, and connective tissues, such as ligaments and tendons. The process of formation of bones is known as ossification. The types of ossification are intramembranous, intra-cartilaginous, and membro-cartilaginous ossifications. The interstitial growth of the bone mostly depends upon the growth of the cartilage inside the epiphyseal plate.
