Write the expression for the velocity gradient.

    G=W˙μV                                                              (I)

Here, the power input is W˙, the fluid viscosity is μ and the basin volume is V.

Conclusion:

Substitute ftlb/s for W˙, lbs/ft2 for μ and ft3 for V in Equation (I).

    G=(ftlb/s)(lbs/ft2)(ft3)=(ftlb/s)(lbsft)=1(s2)=1s

Thus, the unit of velocity gradient is 1s.
