Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

An expression for the value of $n$ of a particle of mass $m$ in a one dimensional box of length $L$ such that the energy of the level is equal to the mean energy of thermal motion has to be found.  The value of $n$ for the case of an argon atom in a box of length $\text{0}\text{.1}\text{cm}$ at $\text{298}\text{K}$ has to be calculated.

Concept introduction:

A particle in a box of mass $m$ is confined to a region of one-dimensional space.  The potential outside the walls of the box is zero, while inside wall, the potential is $\infty$.  The energy of a level in a one dimensional box is given by the formula below.

    $E=\frac{n^2{h}^2}{8m{L}^2}$
