Chapter 7, Problem 31Q
Program Plan Intro

Local area network (LAN):

  • Local area network (LAN) is a collection of small computer or other workstation devices placed within a confined area such as a single room, building or group of buildings by a common cable.
  • It can be a part of a bigger backbone network connected to other LANs, a host workstation or public networks.
  • LANs are capable of transmitting data at very fast rates, when compared with the data transmitted over a telephone line.
    • Only limited distance and limited number of computers can be attached to a single LAN.

Wired LAN:

  • Wired LAN is a common type of configuration that use Ethernet cables to transfer data between connected computers.
  • In a small-wired network, a single router can be used to connect all the computers.
  • However, in large wired network a multiple routers or switches can be used to connect all computers.

Wireless LAN (WLAN):

  • Wireless LAN is a network that allows computers or devices to connect and communicate wirelessly.
  • In wireless LAN an access point (AP) is installed to act as bridge between wireless and wired LAN.
  • Wireless LAN devices are communicated through Wi-Fi network.

Explanation of Solution

Implication of Wired LAN in future:

The implications of Wired LAN (Wired local area network) for future are as follows:

  • Wired LAN service provides the speed needed by the customers.
  • Wired connection as cables minimize the interference produced by the radio frequency...
