The discovery of Uranus.

Answer to Problem 1RD
Uranus was discovered by the British amateur astronomer William Herschel when he was engaged in charting the faint stars.
Explanation of Solution
Uranus occupies the seventh position in the solar system having third largest planetary radius and fourth largest planetary mass. This planet was discovered accidentally by the British astronomer Wiilam Herschel On March 13, 1781. When he was performing a survey of all stars which are very difficult to be seen with the eye alone, he noticed a very slight star which is moving in front of the fixed stars. The movement clearly says that the object was closer than stars.
Conclusion:
William described it as “a curious either nebulous star or perhaps a comet”. In Herschel’s telescope it seems like a disk and moved relative to the stars.
Therefore, Uranus was discovered by the British amateur astronomer William Herschel when he was engaged in charting the faint stars.
