Introduction
Slavery is unacceptable in any form. People should be aware that slavery still exists in most countries in some form, so that it can be ended. This is relevant to our daily lives because we can choose not to support corporations that are accused of exploiting human labor. The American Dream is a lure for poor people from other countries to seek it, but fall prey to traffickers who enslave them instead.
Explanation of Solution
Answer and explanation
It is important to be aware that slavery continues in many countries in different forms. Some countries use slave labor from prisoners to assemble products for sale in global markets. In other countries, domestic workers are imported and kept as slaves after their passports are confiscated. The American Dream is a promise that hard work will be rewarded with wealth, but the dream is often used as bait to convince desperate people to leave their home and seek fortune, only to be trapped by human traffickers. Another example of this bait and switch happened when an African migrant who lived in America lured young women with promises of being sponsored. When they arrived, the man took their passports and made them his slaves for domestic work and sex work. This is relevant to our daily lives because people can choose not to do business with corporations that use slave labor, and choose to buy from those that offer living wages, for example.
