Clock speed:

• Clock speed is the pace of the system clock.
• Clock speed is measured by the number of clock cycles per second.
• Generally, clock speed of processor in personal computer is in the range of gigahertz (GHz).
  • “Giga” represents billion and “hertz” represents one cycle per second.
  • Therefore, one GHz represents one billion clock cycles per second.
• A processor of computer works at the clock speed of 3 GHz.
• Processor is able to execute more instructions per second using faster clock speed.
