Introduction:

Enzymes are the bio-catalysts that speed up a chemical reaction by lowering down activation energy. In simpler terms, for any chemical reaction to occur, the reactants must cross an energy barrier called as activation energy. The enzymes lower this energy barrier by providing an alternate path for the reaction to occur. The reaction occurring without an enzyme will have higher activation energy. pH also plays a pivotal role in carrying out a chemical reaction. Any altercations in the pH can result into enzymatic degradation and also can change the properties of substrate and substrate binding sites. This will limit the progress of chemical reaction.
