Chapter 6, Problem 43IP
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

For the given reaction effect of Keq , ΔG (Gibbs free energy), temperature, ΔΗ (Enthalpy), Ea and ΔS (Entropy) should be identified.

Concept introduction:

Equilibrium constants ( Keq ) [Products] [Reactants]

Equilibrium constants ( Keq ) is only affected by temperature, because if number of moles of the reagent increases product will also increases and the ratio constant.

ΔΗ (Enthalpy) could be determined by using following formula

ΔΗ (Enthalpy of the reaction) = ΔΗ (bonds broken) – ΔΗ (bonds formed)

ΔS (Entropy) can be identified by using formula.

ΔS = Number of products – Number of reactant

General formula to calculate the Gibbs free energy is ΔG = ΔΗ –TΔS
