Introduction:

Solar system is a family of Sun. Planets, their moons, asteroids, comets, etc. revolve around the sun in elliptical orbits. It was formed about 4.5 billion years ago from the Solar nebula. Solar system has total eight planets. It has four inner planets and four outer planets and in between lies the asteroid belt.

The first four inner planets are terrestrial- Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. These are composed of metallic rocks.

The next four outer planets are Jovian Planets-Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. They are composed of gases, majorly hydrogen and helium. Jovian planets are larger in size as compared to terrestrial planets.

Planets in the increasing order of distance from Sun

  2. Venus
  3. Earth
  4. Mars
  5. Jupiter
  6. Saturn
  7. Uranus
  8. Neptune
