The ultimate source of energy of fossil fuels, dams and windmills?
Answer to Problem 18RQ
The ultimate source of energy of fossil fuels, dams and windmills is Sun.
Explanation of Solution
The original source of energy found all around the world comes directly or indirectly from Sun. The energy of fossil Energy is all around the environment and comes from many sources. Sun. The energy of fuels, dams and windmills ultimately comes from the Sun.
Solar energy is responsible for the energy in coal. The solar energy helps plants to create their food through photosynthesis. When these plants get buried inside Earth due to some earthquakes of natural disasters, then it turns into coal after a long decomposition reaction that runs thousands of years. Thus, the ultimate source of energy in coal is solar energy.
Windmills generate electricity using the momentum of wind, and its ultimate source is the Sun. The Sun heats the Earth’s surface and the Earth increase thermal energy of the air above it, causing wind. So, the ultimate source of energy in windmills is Sun.
Electrical energy from dam is generated using the momentum of water flow, its ultimate source is Sun. Water evaporated by the Sun forms clouds and rains to give flowing streams and rivers.
Conclusion:
Therefore, the ultimate source of energy of fossil fuels, dams and windmills is Sun.
