Chapter 51.2, Problem 3CC
Summary Introduction
To explain: The contribution to the development of the phenomenon of
Concept introduction: The speciation and development of fledglings of birds include the designing of experiments in which different songs are played near the fledglings. They get oriented towards the songs, but are not allowed to hear the real bird sounds and voices, for example in the white-crowned sparrow. The fledglings then learn the songs from the group of birds, which gets imprinted in their memory and they recognize it. This song patterns are learned much faster than the artificial songs played during the experiments. This is called as the “learned behavior” in birds.
