Concept Introduction:

In order to find a bond to be polar or not, the electronegativity difference between the two bonded atoms is calculated.  If the difference is more than 1.0, then it is a polar covalent bond and if it is more than 2.0, then it is an ionic bond.  If it is lesser than 1.0, then it is a nonpolar covalent bond.
