Question
Chapter 50, Problem 1RQ
To determine
Full form of SCR.
Expert Solution & Answer
Explanation of Solution
SCR stands for Silicon-controlled Rectifier, which is a four layered semiconductor material. The four layers are of PNPN layers which have three junctions. The SCR has three terminals that are anode, cathode and gate.
SCR is a digital device, hence it has only two states whether on or off. The gate of SCR control the initial flow of current through SCR but once the current starts to flow gate cannot control the flow of current.
