Summary Introduction
Introduction :
Each species has a characteristic number of chromosomes. A diploid number of chromosomes is present in somatic cells whereas a haploid number of chromosomes is present in reproductive cells. Diploid number is represented as 2n, where n = number of each type of chromosomes. Here a pair of each type of chromosome is present out of which one member of each pair comes from mother and another member comes from father.
Mitosis is a cell division that results in the production of two daughter cells each having a diploid number of chromosomes as the parent cell.
