Concept introduction: Inflammation is the immune response of the body to a harmful stimulus in response to an infection or a physical injury. It is a general healing process. It is the natural response that helps to heal wounds, infections, and tissue damage. However, infections are caused by bacteria, fungi, or virus. The relationship between inflammation and infection is that inflammation is the reaction to the infection that occurs in the body.
