Antibodies: antibodies are the protein bodies present in blood, which can identify and kill the disease-causing organism.

Communicable: It means ability to transfer from one person or one body to another. Communicable diseases are infectious disease that can be transferred from one person to another.

Susceptible host is a person or an organism who can be easily infected by a pathogen. Most vulnerable person include people who are not vaccinated or have certain condition which may cause affect immune system.

Respiratory tract is the group of organs and structure that is involved in the process of respiration and exchange of gases. It includes nose, trachea, moth, bronchi and lungs.

Immunized is a term used for the people who have obtained immunity against a disease due to vaccination.

Airborne transmission is a term used for indicating anything that can be transferred through air or presence of respiratory droplets in the air.

Fecal oral transmission is a term used when the mode of transmission is due to ingestion of food products infected with fecal material including pathogen that may cause disease.

Direct contact is a term when a person is directly exposed a pathogen or an infected person and may posses’ infection sue to this interaction.

Indirect contact is a term used to indicate exposure to a pathogen when a person does not come in direct contact with a patient or someone who is carrying the infection.

Incubation is the time which is required for the pathogen to multiply in the body to cause a certain disease.

Contagious is a term that describes something which has potential of spreading infection.

Prodromal is the period between appearance of first symptom of an infection to full onset of the disease.

Acute is a term used to indicate severe or sudden and which needs immediate attention.

Convalescent is the recovery stage of infection, in this phase the person or the infected person gains the strength back from illness.

Lymph glands are the rounded mass of lymphoid tissues that have capsular layer of connective tissue and contains lymphocytes, these lymphocytes filter the lymph flowing through the node. In case of severe infections, they become swollen.

Universal infection control precautions are the set of guidelines that can help in prevention and control of the infectious diseases. It includes educating about infection, washing hands, use of protective gears and barriers, cleaning of contaminated surfaces and safe handling of contaminated materials.
