Explanation of Solution

UJT that stands for Unijunction transistor is a special type of transistor. Unlike BJT- bipolar junction transistor, UJT has two bases and one emitter. The UJT is also a digital device since it has only two states, on and off.

It is used to produce pulses with a certain pulse rate that in turn can trigger other elements of the circuit. To produce pulses, UJT is connected with a capacitor. It is widely used to trigger the gate of SCR (silicon-controlled rectifier).
