Testing of hypothesis that the large numbers of ommatidia in dragonflies make them more efficient hunters.
Introduction:
Ommatidia are cluster of photoreceptor cells present in compound eye of insects. Houseflies contain about 800 ommatidia in each compound eyes while dragonflies contain up to 10,000 ommatidia per eye. Ommatidia is made up of repeating units, which functions as a separate visual receptor (information provided by small pieces of information) and forms a large image.
