Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Muscle contraction is a complex mechanism which is initiated by the release of neurotransmitter by the motor nerves which open the ion channels. The calcium ions bind to troponin. Lastly, ATP is hydrolyzed to generate energy that helps actin and myosin to bind and slide, thus contracting the muscles. Once the impulse for contraction halts, the muscles relax.
