Introduction: A skeleton is a structure that provides support and protection and plays an important role in locomotion. Exoskeletons and endoskeletons are the two major types of skeletons found in animals. Endoskeletons in vertebrates provide structural support and protect internal organs. Vertebrate endoskeletons are composed of both cartilage and bone in bony fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.
