To determine:
How to respond to a newly diagnosed HIV positive woman with multiple partners who tells you that it is none of your business how she acquired the virus or what she plans to do now that she has it. Think carefully about what is at stake in terms of your response.
Concept Introductions:
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a sexually transmitted disease. It weakens the immunity and strength to fight any diseases. If an infected person had sex with a healthy mate, then a healthy mate would get infected by the virus. Patients do not feel comfortable while discussing sexual problems, the reason behind this behaviour varies from person to person. If a patient has AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) and does not want to discuss the problem with the nurse and doctor, then it is the duty of the nurse to make her feel comfortable and remain understanding and supportive.
