Introduction:

In kidney, loop of Henle is a U-shaped tubule consisting of a thin descending limb and a thin ascending limb in continuation with a thick ascending limb. The loop of Henle is surrounded by the vasa recta (capillaries), which help in the ultrafiltration of filtrate formed to reduce the loss of water and sodium chloride in the urine.
